Ranveer Singh- Priyanka Chopra's 'Dil Dhadakne Do' is the second highest box office opener of 2015

A powerful ensemble cast. Check. A commercially viable director. Check. Immense hype and anticipation. Double Check. Dil Dhadakne Do has all that and more. With huge expectations riding on the Zoya Akhtar directorial, the film has managed to open quite well on its opening day and earned Rs 10.53 crore at the box office.
According to early estimates, the film witnessed a good occupancy in the morning and afternoon shows which only increased during the night shows. As a result, the film made a decent Rs 10.53 crore on its first Friday. With that, the film has also become the second highest opener of 2015. Akshay Kumar's Gabbar is Back still has the highest opening of Rs 13.05 crore. Dil Dhadakne Do which is the second on the list now is followed by Arjun Rampal-Jacqueline Fernandez-Ranbir Kapoor starrer Roy which opened at Rs 10.40 crore.
The film, which is a family entertainer is expected to grow over the weekend and an opening weekend collections of over Rs 40 crore definitely looks possible. Akki's Gabbar is Back also has the highest opening week collections of 2015 (Rs 40 crore) followed by Kangana Ranaut's superhit Tanu Weds Manu Returns(Rs 38.10 crore).
Will DDD break Akshay's opening weekend record? Will it have a positive word of mouth like a TWMR? Let's wait and watch!
